Eligibility Requirements

In addition, prospective applicants must demonstrate that they satisfy the requirements listed below in order to be considered for this scholarship opportunity.

There are two prerequisites that must be met in order to qualify.

To begin, in addition to submitting an application to the Knight-Hennessy Scholars (KHS) program, you are required to submit an application to, be accepted by, and enroll in a full-time graduate degree program at Stanford. Acceptable programs include, but are not limited to, DMA, JD, MA, MBA, MD, MFA, MPP, MS, and Ph.D. programs. You are required to be able to check off at least one of the following four requirements:

  • You are applying independently but simultaneously to both KHS and a full-time graduate degree program at Stanford, with the intention of beginning both programs in the same calendar year.
  • You have already been offered admission to a full-time graduate degree program at Stanford, but you have decided to defer your enrollment there. You plan to apply to KHS in such a way that will allow you to begin both programs in the same academic year.
  • You are currently enrolled in the graduate program at Stanford and plan to submit an application to add a second full-time graduate degree program at Stanford. If accepted, you will begin both the KHS and the new program in the same academic year.
  • You are currently enrolled in the first year of the Ph.D. program at Stanford and plan to apply to KHS in such a way that will allow you to begin your studies at KHS in the second year of your Ph.D. program.

Second, you need to have graduated from an accredited college or university in the United States with a bachelor's degree or its international equivalent after January 1, 2016, at the latest. To be eligible to apply to join the cohort in 2023, you need to have received your bachelor's degree no earlier than January 2016, and to be eligible to join the cohort in 2024, you need to have received your bachelor's degree no earlier than January 2017, respectively.
